THE RED SEA

THE RED SEA Popular among Arabs and non-Arabs alike, Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada offer plenty of beach-based entertainment day and night, but spending Ramadan in these holiday hotspots is all about planning ahead; rooms here tend to fill quickly. The holy month does not deter dive and desert guides, so it is business as usual for the ever-popular boat and safari excursions. In Sharm, the pedestrian section of Na'ama Bay is the all-night hangout, with plenty of outdoor cafes to enjoy the evening air. In Hurghada, where most resorts specialize in the all-inclusive vacation, the party is likely to be right there at your hotel. The beat also goes on at all the clubs and discos, so check with your hotel about the best places to see and be seen.

A safari is a classic adventure trip, taking you into the natural habitat of Africa's amazing wildlife. Being disabled shouldn't prevent anyone from going on safari and there are now several pioneering companies in the market. Southern Cross Safaris in Kenya for example offers special tours for the mobility impaired. Initially inspired by a request from a paraplegic man, they adapted their tented accommodation and vehicles for wheelchair users. On safari, guests stay in a luxury tented camp in the heart of the Tsavo East National Park, beside a tranquil watering hole. Disabled guests can take part in game drives using vehicles fitted with all-round shock absorbers, ramps, and wheelchair securing points.

No driving day is complete without two types of driving. One of them is 4X4, while we will discuss the other in a short while. 4X4 vehicles designed to tread the most treacherous terrains of slippery mountains and wet clay lands. For those who are adept in such driving, a tailor made package can be made with higher difficulty.

Egypt is a shopper's paradise a host of local made goods. The Khan-al-Khalili bazaar in Cairo has many items of everyday use. There are bazaars in other towns, as well. A traveler can get the best of hand-made carpets, perfume-concentrates, and pharaohnic objects. Egyptian cotton is world-known for its purity. Authentic papyrus can be purchased in the local markets.

Diving in Sharm el Sheikh is performed either by boat or from shore: the coast is almost totally lined by fringing or barrier reefs, with very few sandy beaches; the more impressive dive sites are located though off the coast. The Sharm el Sheikh diving area comprises also the famous Ras Mohammed National Park, where access is permitted only with an entrance fee (payable directly at all diving centers).

One morning was our schnorcheln Hurghada. Our caravan of 8 jeeps headed deep in to the wilderness for many "dune bashing". Our driver Ahend careened such as for instance a drunken sailor at sea within the steepest dunes. He talked on his mobile phone, when i screamed.

Today Hurghada counts 248,000 inhabitants and is divided into three parts: Downtown (El Dahar) is the old part; Sekalla is the city center, and El Memsha (Village road) is the modern part.

So, I keep flipping through travel guides about Mauritius information and it was just a week back that I learnt a thing or two about quad safari hurghada. It is a fairly new form of sport and though the term is not an unheard-of one, it actually is gaining grounds all over the world. quad safari hurghada is a sport which is most common in beaches, though you also have them at some of the deserts as in Dubai.

Consumption of alcohol is permitted at some hotels, restaurants, night spots, and tourist attractions. Other than these venues, alcohol should never be consumed in public. You can actually be charged for being drunk in public.
